Message Since #2 cylinder is not strong at idle when the engine is cold (and it was neither the plug nor the coil), I had compression done on all of them.

#2 is like 55% of what the other cylinders are @. After adding oil it went up to like 80%.

I didn't see the exact results but the owner of the shop told me that this almost for sure means that the problem is in the valves, not in the bottom part of the engine (pistons, rods).

All my knowledge and what I've been told by Buzz (thanks!) and what I've found in this site's search says that's a FRIGGIN' LIE.

It would be exactly otherwise, right? If adding oil helps, the problem is in the pistons/seals, isn't it? If it was valves, it wouldn't help to add oil, right?

Oh, btw - when the engine is warm, everything's OK, runs smooth... What's that got do to with valves?!? Pistons and seals - yeah, they get warmer and fill the gaps more. But valves?!

Also can someone tell me if the compression is what it is in my case, can I put another 10-15 thousand miles on the car before I need a full rebuild provided I never race the car and barely ever give it a serious blast?

Or should I rather try to sell it ASAP?

Also, this is a 90 NA. Any chance to check if maybe it's another soft valve problem case?

Thanks for any answers.
